“We go in two weeks pre-calving with the Booster Tablet. When the cow calves down we’re using the Metri Tablet, the StartLac Tablet and the StartLac Paste. This helps the cow to hit the ground running and reduces the open days.

We found that it’s helping with conception rates and reducing the amount of subclinical and clinical milk fever in the first couple of days of calving.

My aim is to increase the lactation ability in my herd for as long as possible and after long research I decided that the best way to achieve this is to use a herd plan by AHV. The Transition & Fertility programme consists of one Booster Tablet, 2-3 weeks before calving, 2 StartLac Tablets at calving. Post Calving we go in with StartLac Paste, Metri Tablet and 2 Aspi Tablets.

This is my second year on the plan and the performance of the herd has greatly improved since I started using AHV protocols.

Since we started using AHV fertility and transition products, we’ve noticed way fewer problems with our fresh cows, and they’re definitely transitioning to full production much faster. The shift to AHV products has also significantly reduced the number of severe udder cases, and our cell count is now much more manageable.

Overall, the difference in cow health and performance has been clear, and it’s made a big impact on our herd.

We’re seeing more saleable milk in the tank and a noticeable reduction in health challenges across the herd. The cows are transitioning smoothly into the milking herd, and as they transition better, we’ve also seen a decrease in the days to first service. Cow’s just seem to be getting going nicely.
Going forward I think AHV solutions will help with the longevity of the herd to create a sustainable future for the generation to come here at Longlands Farm.

I’ve been using the AHV transition and fertility protocol for three years now, and overall I’m very happy with the results. They’ve become an essential part of managing my herd, especially when it comes to maintaining cow health and productivity.

Once the cow has calved down, I give AHV Booster, Metri, and StartLac Paste, and the results have been great – no dirty cows and zero post-calving issues, which has made things run much more smoothly. Moving forward, I plan to add the AHV Booster Tablet after calving to improve milk production in the next lactation.

We are after a cow that is a good converter of feed to milk, has good udder health and gets into calf easily. Combined, the products work by supporting the cow at times of stress or demand which can make them susceptible to health challenges.

We are about 18 months into the AHV Herd Health Plan and the cows’ performance has definitely improved. With our AHV Herd Longevity Manager Paul tracking the key metrics we can easily keep a check on it as we move forward.

I do have a high EBI for fertility, but I wasn’t getting results, probably due to the cows being high-yielding and struggling during the initial week after calving.

After introducing the Transition & Fertility Health Plan, I went from sub-50% first conception to a 70% conception rate after the first service. So, just looking at the data, it works.
