Immunity & Resistance

The AHV Immunity & Resistance Programme focuses on a well-balanced microbiome that ensures proper gut function and digestion, effective utilisation of nutrients and overall health.

Piglets are born with an underdeveloped immune system and are therefore more susceptible to disturbances in the microbiome. Intake of key nutrients for proper development and protection of the gastrointestinal tract are therefore crucial.

The AHV Immunity & Resistance Programme focuses on a well-balanced microbiome that promotes good gut function, effective utilisation of nutrients and overall health. Especially for the critical post-weaning period, AHV has developed the Qure line. By improving gut health, piglets are less likely to experience the negative effects associated with weaning.

FAQ

How we work

The AHV Immunity and Resistance Programme promotes a well-balanced gut that is less susceptible to disturbances and supports effective nutrient utilisation – something that is crucial for good piglet development. There is no doubt that a healthy gastrointestinal tract is essential for the production efficiency of swine at any life stage.

Benefits

Technology

Intestinal microbiota play an important role in immune system development and overall health of piglets. Bacteria in biofilm are less sensitive to antibiotics and inaccessible to antibodies and immune cells. AHV’s patented technology disrupts the quorum sensing process and eradicates the biofilm structure. Without the “protection” of the biofilm, pathogenic bacteria become susceptible to immune cells.

Animal health

Due to stress (weaning, fighting, new environment), feed changes, insufficient feed intake and insufficient gastric acid production, pathogens can develop at gut level which can lead to challenges after weaning. By improving gut health with the Immunity & Resistance programme, piglets are less likely to experience the negative consequences associated with weaning.

Financial

A healthy gut helps achieve the genetic potential of the piglet. By improving gut health, piglets will experience fewer health challenges, reducing extra costs and growth retardation. This benefits the financial results.
