ENERGY & METABOLISM

A good energy level is the basis of good milk production, resistance, and fertility. Changes in the energy level should be monitored closely to maintain healthy, producing dairy cattle. Feed intake plays a major role in maintaining energy levels for production and is important for rumination, therefore rumen health, digestion, and general health.

The AHV Energy & Metabolism Programme supports your animal’s natural resistance and energy balance for optimal productivity, reproduction and improved labour convenience and enjoyment for the dairy farmer.

How we work

Each programme within AHV Cows & Calves is based on a predetermined approach. The Energy & Metabolism Programme consists of 2 levels of support based on acute energy support. The AHV Territory Manager assesses the health of the herd based on modelled output or anticipation of production cycle expectations.

Benefits

Technology

AHV offers an Energy & Metabolism Programme with products and solutions in a broad variety of applications. We offer multiple options, ranging from providing fast absorbable or slow-release energy to applications that benefit rumen pH and liver support. Products and solutions in all AHV programmes are animal friendly and easy to administer or apply.

Animal health

The liver and rumen are of vital importance to have a healthy producing animal and as such, place a strong demand on available energy. Energy utilization is strongly subject to availability and allocation and the latter is dependent on the health status of the animal. To maintain the functionality of its ‘engines’, the liver and the rumen, cows benefit from a well-managed energy balance.

Financial

Animals that are healthy, produce more optimally and require less intervention. Every biological  reaction in the body requires energy and specific organs and systems use a large proportion of available energy for maintenance; the process of  being  able to  function on a base level (i.e., a healthy, normal state). Energy is the cow’s engine and all the energy the cow spends on other things comes at the expense of milk production. The more milk the cow produces, the more it benefits the farmer.

What farmers say

“Energy is important post-calving because the rumen needs time to kickstart and it is exactly what the rumen needs to let the cow recover and to support during any health challenges she may have as a result of a negative energy balance.”
Evan WalshCo. Offaly, Ireland
We use the AHV Booster Solutions a lot for fresh cows and see good results. You see that they have more energy and fewer health challenges. The good results are a reason for us to continue using the AHV Solutions and to keep trying out various AHV products.
Henk van EgmondThe Netherlands
“We were very critical at first, but then we tried the AHV Booster Solutions and we are thrilled. They work fast and are effective during critical phases, such as during metabolic challenges. Our cows are quickly fit and vital again because the energy levels are balanced.”
