Transition

TRANSITION

The transition period is an important period in the cow’s productive life that is very demanding. During this period, it is crucial that your cow receives a well-balanced ration to get important nutrients and minerals like calcium, magnesium, and phosphorus, in addition to energy. Next to that, attention should be given to a stress-free environment, that allows for movement and access to water. Cows that benefit from proper transition management will have a better calving process and start production with no hassle.

TRANSITION

The transition period is an important period in the cow’s productive life that is very demanding. Next to that, attention should be given to a stress-free environment, that allows for movement and access to water. The AHV Transition Programme focuses on the period before and after calving and ensures sufficient energy, minerals, and stimulates dry matter intake. This programme connects excellently with the AHV Uterine Health Programme to fully support the recently calved cow and allow her to restart the reproductive cycle in the best way possible.

How we work

Each programme within AHV Cows & Calves is based on a predetermined approach. The Transition programme consists of 2 levels of support related to the transition period that deserves more attention. The AHV Specialist can offer tailored support to deal with the most common challenges around calving together with you.

Benefits

Technology

AHV offers a Transition Programme with products and solutions that have been developed using the most effective and complete ingredients and mineral composition, balanced according to the latest insights. Products and solutions in all AHV programmes are animal friendly and easy to administer or apply.

Animal health

The transition phase can make a real difference to the cow’s health during, and especially after, calving. The metabolic and physical changes that the cow’s body undergoes impact both future production, as well as her direct and indirect health status.

Financial

Animals that are healthy, produce more optimally and require less intervention. This means that supporting cows throughout the transition phase (i.e., before, during, and after calving) results in higher milk yields, stronger calves, and less unexpected costs.

What farmers say

“We were very critical at first, but then we tried the booster products from AHV and are thrilled. They are a super fast and effective help in critical phases, e.g. with metabolic challenges. Our cows are quickly fit and vital again because the energy balance is balanced.”
