Udder Health example

UDDER HEALTH

Udder health is of utmost importance in a good functioning dairy farm. A cow with a healthy udder will feel well and requires less attention from the dairy farmer. Good udder health is achieved by a clean environment and a proactive attitude. To keep your cows’ udder as healthy as possible, it is important to monitor the animal, preferably using (milk) data that provides additional insights and adjust and adapt when needed. The longer the udder remains healthy, the more you and your dairy cattle will benefit.

The AHV Udder Health Programme supports your animal’s natural resistance for production, longevity and development of the herd. This leads to fewer financial losses, improved well-being of your cow, and improved labour convenience and enjoyment for the dairy farmer.

How we work

Each programme within AHV Cows & Calves is based on a predefined approach. The Udder Health programme consists of 4 levels of support for keeping the udder clean. Together with your AHV Specialist, you can assess herd health based on analysis of milk recordings, robot data and farm goals.

Benefits

Technology

AHV offers an Udder Health Programme with products and solutions that contain the patent pending AHV QSI Technology. The blend of components is developed to facilitate the immune system and to support improvement of the health status of the udder and quality of the milk. Products and solutions in all AHV programmes are animal friendly and easy to administer or apply.

Animal health

With increasing milk production, the cow’s health is challenged during all stages of lactation. Udder health in particular requires continuous monitoring and support. Healthy cows remain in good production where no intervention is needed, avoiding stressful situations. This is beneficial for the animal’s wellbeing, production quantity and quality, and ultimately, impacting longevity and number of lactations.

Financial

Animals that are healthy, produce more optimally and require less intervention. For the dairy farmer, this means a higher, and better quality milk yield, and an overall healthier herd with higher production numbers over time. This can be economically reflected in increased direct milk revenues or by premiumization programmes from dairy processors that reward milk constituents and hygiene.

What farmers say

“We are extremely impressed with the impact made by the AHV solutions on our farm. I would heartily encourage their use on any dairy or livestock farm throughout the country and beyond.”
Alexander TinneyCo. Donegal, Ireland
