GIVE YOUR PIGLETS THE BEST START

AHV Control Liquid is a dietetic feed drench for suckling piglets that helps to stabilise gut health and faecal consistency. Neonatal diarrhoea is one of the biggest challenges in pig production, causing piglet losses, slower growth, extra labour, and frequent medication use.

AHV Control Liquid result: Increased ability to reduce diarrhoea incidence, supports recovery, and lessens the impact on affected litters.

Key benefits:

  • Supports natural integrity and development of the gut
  • Contributes to less antibiotic reliance and labour
  • Continuation of uniform growth

Use proactively in high-risk litters (e.g. gilts) or reactively at the first signs of diarrhoea.

MODE OF ACTION

Nutritional purpose: Stabilisation of water and electrolyte balance to support physiological digestion. For use in cases of, or at risk of, digestive disturbance (diarrhoea), as well as during or after periods of digestive stress.

AHV Control Liquid supports young piglets during vulnerable early-life stages by:

  • Quorum Sensing Influence (QSI): Influencing microbial communication, which downregulates virulence gene expressions such as epithelial cell attachment, tissue destruction, biofilm formation and toxin production, making bacteria less harmful to the host.
  • Bioactive compounds: Support immune function and enhance resilience.
  • Tannins: Bind to proteins and mucosal surfaces, creating an astringent effect on the gut mucosa. This helps reduce secretions, support gut integrity and stabilise digestive function.

Store at room temperature (15–25 °C). Keep out of reach of children.

GMP+ FSA assured

science & validation

A total of 732 piglets from 52 healthy gilts were divided into two equal groups: one received AHV Control Liquid, and one served as the untreated reference. All animals were kept under identical housing and feeding conditions.

The proactive use of AHV Control Liquid improved gut health and reduced digestive challenges. The number of piglets with diarrhoea dropped from 107 in the reference group to 82 in the treated group, a 6.8% reduction. The onset of symptoms also occurred later, at 4.2 days after birth compared to 3.8 days in the untreated group.

Mortality decreased from 6.0% in the reference group to 4.6% in the treated group, a reduction of 1.4%. Piglets affected by diarrhoea showed slower growth, highlighting the importance of early and proactive support to maintain overall performance.

How to use CONTROL LIQUID?

PROACTIVE PROTOCOL

  1. Administer 2 ml orally into the piglet’s cheek using the drencher.
  2. Apply to all piglets from high-risk litters (e.g. gilts) before symptoms are expected, to help reduce the risk of digestive disturbance.

REACTIVE PROTOCOL

  1. For litters showing the first clear signs of digestive upset (loose faeces with a change in colour from normal dark brown), administer 2 ml orally into the cheek of each piglet in the litter.
  2. In severe cases, repeat the dose after 12–24 hours, for up to seven days.
  3. If digestive disturbance occurs after 10 days of age, the dose may be increased to 4 ml.

Important: Always place the drench in the piglet’s cheek, never directly into the throat, to ensure safe swallowing.

When to use CONTROL LIQUID?

The first days of life are decisive for piglet survival and future performance. Challenges such as hypothermia, dehydration and digestive imbalance can cause setbacks with lasting effects.

The AHV Suckling Piglet Program provides targeted support during this vulnerable phase by delivering:

  • Energy to counter early weakness
  • Gut stabilisation to support digestive balance
  • Hydration to maintain fluid levels
  • Resilience to strengthen natural defences

By giving piglets the right start, the program helps reduce early losses and builds the foundation for steady growth, stronger immunity and improved lifetime performance.

Healthy beginnings lead to healthier, more productive animals for life.
